Description:

The goal of the Stemmler Grants Program is to provide support for research on, and development of, innovative assessment approaches that will enhance the professional development of those preparing to, or continuing to, practice medicine.

The Stemmler Grants External Reviewers, with support from the unit in charge of the Stemmler Grant program, are responsible for reading, scoring, and providing feedback on the grant applications each cycle. These reviewers are a critical part of the grant cycle and provide support to the Stemmler Grants Committee during their review process and funding meetings.

Role & Responsibilities

External reviewers participate over the course of the grant cycle in both the Letter of Intent (LOI) and proposal review phases of the program. Reviewers serve one term length, equal to the grant cycle, with the option to serve future terms. 
 

LOI Review – 8-10 Hour Commitment from June-August 2026

We anticipate external reviewers will be asked to read no more than 15 five-page LOIs and respond to the review questions within the grant application platform, Submittable.
 

Proposal Review – 5 Hour Commitment in February 2027

External reviewers will be asked to read no more than 5 thirty-page proposals and respond to the review questions within the grant application platform, Submittable.
